Mini Haul & A New Shelf!

So I didn’t get a chance to post anything yesterday since I was out shopping at small businesses and rearranging my entire room. I actually didn’t buy any books on Black Friday, I did buy my Mom a book and planner for Christmas though! Since it was small business Saturday in the area, I stopped by my favourite local used bookstore owned by a good friend and picked up a couple books:

I read both of these a couple years ago and really liked them, so it’s awesome being able to finally put them onto my shelves!

Now, for what I spent most of my night off doing! Originally I only had one of these bookshelves but my Wife wanted to create a bed ‘fort’ so we made a faux wall. We hurriedly went to the store (with 20 minutes before they closed) in hopes of finding the same bookshelf, we did and it turned out that they were on sale! This is the end result (you don’t want to know how bad of a mess it was cleaning out my books and having to rearrange them).

And yes, that’s a whole shelf dedicated to my planner stuff and laptop. I can’t stop buying planners and planner goodies. It’s becoming a serious problem.

Last Week’s Book Haul

So last week’s book was actually pretty small even though I actually expected more books to come in. But alas, that means the next couple weeks should be filled with books.

All four of these books came from Book Outlet, thanks to deals and coupons I spent a whole $7.95 which the majority of that was shipping, so thanks Book Outlet. If you haven’t heard of Book Outlet, it’s a used book store that has actual stores in Canada and sells used books online as well. You definitely need to check them out! Anyways, on ward to the book haul!

These are some of my favourite books that I’ve read over the past couple years. And I am a complete sucker for their covers, they are so beautiful!

Next up is Soundless by Richelle Mead; now I haven’t read anything by her except for her Age of X books. But a friend had an extra HC and the cover is beautiful, so I though why not?

And last but not least I did have a few ebooks arrive on my kindle this week, which included:

  • Sneak Peek of The Forbidden Wish by Jessica Khoury
  • The Axe and Throne Prologue by M. D. Ireman
  • Legacy of Kings by Eleanor Herman
  • Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo
  • The Scorpion Rules by Erin Bow

Last Weeks Book Haul!

Thought I’d do a quick haul post since I came into some awesome books and swag this week! If you follow me on Instagram or Twitter than you’ve probably already seen all this.

So Among the Shadows isn’t my normal type of read but a lot of amazing authors wrote stories for it! I won this from YA Books Central and was pleasantly surprised when I found a ton of signed book swag from some of the authors featured in the anthology.

Those back to back prints are so gorgeous, I’ll probably get them framed. I haven’t read The Body Electric yet. Have you? What did you think of it?

It was First Friday this past Friday, which means I ventured to my favourite local used bookstore Lit on Fire. As always I love searching the shelves and discovering amazing books. So when I happened upon these three books I couldn’t pass them up. I mean, a Legend ARC? HELL YES. Also, I’ve been seeing Starters a lot, and the synopsis definitely peaked my interest. Have you read Starters and Enders? Tell me what you thought of them!

These two are also from Lit on Fire but they were my Wife’s picks. Which was surprising all on it’s own since she doesn’t really read. But I guess The Blue Tattoo is a collector type copy, so she insisted.

So that’s it for this week! Though I did just put in an order on BookOutlet last night. Which I’ll be sharing next week, hopefully.

Hope you all had a good weekend.

Last Weeks Book Finds & Mail!

This past week has been great when it comes to books coming into my possession. I had a huge haul over the weekend plus a lot of book mail come in. Let’s start off with two giveaway wins that I was super excited for!

image

image

I couldn’t believe when I won an arc of Illuminae, if you’ve been on Twitter, you know this book is super hyped. So I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it. Let’s just say it didn’t take me very long to devour it and I should have my review up soon, so keep an eye out! I was also super excited to win Air Awakens from Elise Kova herself! If you recall, Air Awakens was a book I chose for a WoW post a couple weeks ago. (You can find that here.) This hardcover came signed and personalized PLUS a signed postcard and bookmark. Look how gorgeous it all is together! I can’t wait to read it.

Awhile back I also won a curated box giveaway which I had no idea what was going to be in it but who doesn’t love surprises?! There were the two books that came in it besides a whole bunch of awesome little goodies!

Let me just say that I’m so happy to finally have these on my shelves! They are amazing books and if you love strong female main characters and haven’t read these, what are you waiting for?! Go read them!

Next up was Goodwill find that I instantly grabbed when I saw it on the shelf. Now, this book has a bit of a story.

Back in the sixth grade I had just switched schools and didn’t really know too many people. As always, I was sticking my nose in books where I felt most comfortable. At the time that I was reading this, I was introduced to a person who became a close friend until almost the end of high school. This friend started calling me Lily and the name just sort of stuck. Only she called me Lily, so this book kind of holds a special place in my heart. I’ve never seen a hardcover of it or really found a copy of it that wasn’t in horrible condition, so needless to say it came home with me!

I went to a local festival over the weekend for a vendor fair and I found this huge set up of used books. There were tables and tables of books, and these super cute elderly ladies were running. I spent a lot of time going through boxes and stumbled upon six fairly new arcs! 5 from 2014/2015 and 1 from 2011. I was really surprised to find them and couldn’t help but pick them up. A few of them I’ve been wanting to check out recently.

I also picked up this amazing 1965 Lord of the Rings box set! The box itself wasn’t in the best condition but the books were pristine. And for the Wife, I got a couple nautical/ship themed books, since she isn’t really interested in books but these peaked her interest.

Ironically, the day we went to the vendor fair, that morning I had picked up this amazing soft cover (almost leather like) Tolkien Dictionary. Not knowing that later that day I’d find a Lord of the Rings box set.

And last but not least, yesterday my pre-order of Queen of Shadows FINALLY arrived!

Last Week’s Book Haul!

In my last shopping local book haul post (which you can read here if you’d like) I mentioned this awesome new used bookstore called Lit on Fire. Well last week, I offered up my help to get them ready for a cool little local event we call First Friday. I helped shelve books and organize a bit, and even display some of my favourites! The owner Jessica is super cool, we got along really well and she was nice enough to give me a discount on my book purchase for helping out. So here’s what I got:

I definitely want to go back and help out as much as I can. I honestly loved just shelving the books and could do it for hours. So I hope more opportunities come up where I can go back and help out!
